El Nogalar is a compelling bilingual drama crafted by Chicago-based playwright Tanya Saracho. Known for blending English and Spanish on stage, the show centers on themes of land, family, gender, and the impact of violence on a Mexican ranching family. The work often features a women-centered ensemble and runs approximately 105 minutes. The original world premiere occurred at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago in March 2011, produced with Teatro Vista. Since then, university and college productions have brought El Nogalar to campuses nationwide, including Texas State University (2021), Palo Alto College in San Antonio (2023), and Buena Vista University (2019). The script is published/licensed through Concord Theatricals (Samuel French, Inc. title).
