El Pintor, Spanish for 'the painter,' marks a pivotal chapter in Interpol’s evolution. Released internationally on September 8, 2014 (September 9 in North America), this is the band’s fifth studio album and the first without bassist Carlos Dengler. Paul Banks (vocals and bass duties) and Daniel Kessler (guitar) shared bass responsibilities for the recording, delivering a crisp, moody indie rock sound that fans associate with Interpol’s signature style. Alongside the album, the band released five singles that helped shape the era: All the Rage Back Home, Ancient Ways, My Desire, Anywhere, and Everything Is Wrong. As Interpol continues to tour and release new material, El Pintor remains a landmark release for fans and newcomers alike.
