Elim Chan is a pioneering conductor from Hong Kong, celebrated for her dynamic interpretations and leadership on the world stage. Born on November 18, 1986, she broke barriers as the first woman to win the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in 2014, setting the stage for a string of high-profile appointments and performances. From 2019 to 2024, she was Principal Conductor of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, and she served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra from 2018 to 2023. In 2023, Chan made her BBC Proms debut, conducted the First Night of the Proms in 2024, and is slated to lead the Last Night of the Proms in 2025. Her 2025 engagements span major orchestras and festivals, including the Concertgebouw Orchestra Young, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Cleveland Orchestra, and the Bregenz Festival, along with appearances in Europe’s capitals.
