The Emerald Cup began in 2003 as an after-harvest gathering for Emerald Triangle cannabis growers, founded by Tim Blake. What started in Mendocino County and later expanding to Santa Rosa has grown into the world’s premier outdoor cannabis competition, earning accolades like being dubbed by Rolling Stone as the 'Academy Awards of Cannabis.' The Emerald Cup blends culture, education, and music across a multi-stage festival, featuring a large marketplace with hundreds of brands, engaging talks, and performances by notable artists. In 2024, the festival celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts in Oakland, CA (rescheduled dates: RESCHEDULED from its original date to August 17-18, 2024). The 2025 edition is planned for August 17-18, 2025, at the same Oakland venue. Follow official updates and engage with the community on social channels including Instagram at @theemeraldcup.
