The Endellion String Quartet, formed in January 1979, stands as one of the most respected names in chamber music. With original members Andrew Watkinson, Louise Williams, Garfield Jackson, and David Waterman, the group welcomed Ralph de Souza in 1986 to complete its classic lineup. As a long-running quartet-in-residence at Cambridge University from 1992, Endellion became synonymous with intimate, technically pristine performances and scholarly programming. They regularly graced Wigmore Hall and other major venues, delighting audiences with a breadth of repertoire from Haydn to contemporary works.
