The Etowah Youth Orchestra (EYO) is a distinguished youth performing arts organization based in Etowah County, Alabama. Founded in October 1990 to supplement local strings programs and to build a diverse set of ensembles, EYO has grown into a trusted training ground for young musicians. Rehearsals take place at the Music Center at Temple Beth Israel in Gadsden, where string ensembles, wind groups, and chamber groups rehearse and perform. From its early premieres in the 1990s to acclaimed performances at major venues and collaborations with renowned artists, the Etowah Youth Orchestra has established a legacy as a leading youth ensemble in the Southeast. The program has earned multiple ASCAP awards for its contemporary programming, including 11 ASCAP awards and a 2006 American Programming on a Foreign Tour award.
