Facing Our Truth: 10 Minute Plays On Trayvon, Race and Privilege is a provocative performance project centered on short plays that spark dialogue about race, privilege, and social justice. Originating with The Ballad of George Zimmerman (text by Dan O’Brien, music by Quetzal Flores), the collection was commissioned and premiered in New York City in 2013 through The New Black Fest. Since then, multiple productions have expanded the conversation, including USC Scene Dock Theatre in 2017 and a streaming ISU Theatre presentation in March 2021. The project blends theatre with music and storytelling, inviting audiences to engage earnestly with difficult topics.
