Faction Zero emerged in 1993 in Clifton, New Jersey, delivering a hard-edged fusion of NY/NJ hardcore and crossover thrash. Their sound blends aggressive guitar work with a relentless, driving rhythm section, attracting a dedicated following on the Northeast hardcore circuit. The band quickly established itself through a string of early releases, including two 7" records on Division Records in 1995 and a 1995 demo, cementing their place in the regional scene.
Their 1997 album Liberation on IJT Records stands as a landmark release, capturing the band’s uncompromising approach and setting a high bar for contemporaries. In 2002, they released War Stories on Faction Zero Recordings, a strong statement that featured a split release with Against The Grain in 2002/2003, further expanding their reach. A 2008 compilation simply titled Faction Zero was released on their own FZR label, rounding out a period of prolific activity and genre-defining material.
Today, Faction Zero remains active within the NJHC community, maintaining a presence on social channels and through their label, continuing to contribute to the scene with new projects, reissues, and live performances as opportunities arise.
