Fairport Convention formed in 1967 in London and is widely credited as the first British folk-rock band. Over the decades, they fused traditional folk tunes with electric rock textures, creating a sound that helped define a genre and inspire countless artists. Their 1969 masterpiece Liege & Lief is celebrated as a landmark in folk music, later voted the Most Influential Folk Album of All Time by BBC Radio 2 listeners in 2006.
