Faraj Abyad is a Syrian-born, American-based composer and performer rooted in New York City's vibrant music scene. His work weaves Tarab-inflected Arabic art music with traditional maqam, classical poetry, and contemporary jazz/world-music aesthetics. He collaborates across cultures, most notably with Athar Orchestra New York, to create projects that honor poets like Nizar Qabbani, Mahmoud Darwish, and Ahmed Shawqi. Abyad's sonic world is a bridge between heritage and innovation, inviting listeners to experience Arabic art music in fresh, immersive ways.
