Faramarz Aslan was a pioneering Persian vocalist and songwriter whose work bridged traditional Persian poetry with contemporary guitar-driven rock and folk influences. Born in Tehran, Iran, he studied journalism at the University of London before launching a music career that would take him from Tehran to the UK and the US. His debut album, Occupation of The Heart (1977) on CBS/Columbia, helped define an era with its intimate storytelling and distinctive guitar work.
