Farhad Darya is one of Afghanistan’s most enduring voices, blending Dari and Pashto influences with folk-pop and rock sensibilities. Born September 22, 1962, in Kabul, he first rose to prominence with the band Goroh-e-Baran before launching a long and influential solo career. After returning to Afghanistan in 2003, he helped shape a cultural revival, headlining the landmark Ghazi Stadium concert in 2004 and releasing Salaam Afghanistan later that year, a defining post-Taliban album that helped unify a nation through music.
