Khudyev holds a distinguished role as Music Director for UT Austin’s Symphony Orchestra, where he shapes a dynamic ensemble and mentors the next generation of orchestral musicians. In addition to his UT duties, he is Associate Professor of Music in Orchestral Studies, bringing a wealth of experience from international stages to the university environment. His credentials include the Artist of Extraordinary Ability designation from the U.S. government, underscoring his exceptional contributions to the arts and his field.
His conducting career spans continents, with work leading major ensembles such as the Seattle Symphony, Dallas Symphony, London Philharmonic, and Calgary/ASSO. Khudyev has earned recognition across competitions, including the Gold Medal ‘Beethoven 250’ Special Prize at the 1st International Arthur Nikisch Conducting Competition, the Best Interpretation Prize at the 1st International Taipei Conducting Competition, and a 3rd prize at the 8th Sir Georg Solti Conducting Competition in Germany (2017). He has also been honored with the Solti Foundation US Career Assistance Award (2018; listed again in 2022 in various sources).
