About Aimé Césaire: cofounder of the Negritude movement and a towering figure in Francophone literature, Césaire served as mayor of Fort-de-France (1945–2001, with a brief interruption in 1983–84) and inspired generations of poets and playwrights. FIAF’s A Tempest honors his legacy by staging a bold examination of colonial power and resistance.
