The live experience
What reaches the room
Founded in the mid-1980s in Richmond, Virginia, Fighting Gravity began life as Boy O Boy before evolving into a signature blend of ska, reggae, rock, and world beat. The band carved out a distinctive sound that resonated across the US, earning attention from major outlets and fans alike. After a debut and development period, they released You and Everybody Else on Mercury Records in 1998, marking a high point in their recording career. Over the years, Fighting Gravity sustained a strong live presence, including long-running USO tours that brought their dynamic stage energy to audiences worldwide. The ensemble reemerged in 2017, reuniting for performances and tours, including notable 2017 shows at the Richmond National Theater. As they continue to perform, Fighting Gravity brings a diverse sonic palette to venues in Virginia and beyond. For 2025, the band has announced two confirmed dates in Virginia—May 10 in Richmond and June 14 in Reston—alongside ongoing social and press activity to keep fans updated.
