First Avenue is more than a concert hall—it's a cornerstone of Minneapolis’s music scene and a catalyst for the city’s iconic sounds. Operating since 1970, the venue spans two intimate spaces within a single historic building: the First Avenue Mainroom, with a capacity of approximately 1,550, and the 7th St Entry, holding around 250 guests. Born from The Depot/Sam’s era after the Greyhound bus depot days, the venue evolved into the legendary First Avenue in the 1980s and became synonymous with the Minneapolis sound and Prince. The Purple Rain era alone helped cement its status as a must-visit cultural landmark.
