The First State Symphonic Band (FSSB) is a celebrated Delaware-based ensemble with a rich history dating back to 1951 when it began as the DuPont Company Employee Band. Reconstituted in 1978 as The First State Symphonic Band, FSSB has grown into a versatile orchestra that embraces contemporary and classical band literature, including light classics, marches, show tunes, jazz, and popular melodies. Led by Musical Director Jonathan Wittman since 1999, the band continues to educate and entertain as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, bringing high-quality live music to communities in and around Middletown, Smyrna, and beyond.
