Five Man Electrical Band emerged in 1963 in Ottawa, Ontario, initially performing as The Staccatos. Rebranding in 1969, the group forged a path through the late 60s and early 70s with a string of studio albums and memorable singles. Their breakout moment came with Signs (1971), a track that climbed to #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topped charts in Australia, earning a Gold disc from the RIAA and long-lasting radio play. The band’s work also earned SOCAN Classics recognition for Songs like Signs, Absolutely Right, and I’m a Stranger Here, with Signs inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.
