Five Seconds Expired is a high-energy metal/hardcore act with deep roots in Burlington, Vermont. Formed in 1993 as Slush, the band self-released early material before adopting the Five Seconds Expired name in the mid-1990s due to a naming conflict. Known for blistering live performances that fuse rock, metal, and hardcore elements, the band has built a dedicated following across the Northeast. In 2025, the project revisited its roots with The Slush Years, an 8-song remastered album capturing the essence of the early catalog under the Five Seconds Expired banner. The same year, fans were treated to a reunion show at Higher Ground in South Burlington, VT, marking a retrospective milestone for longtime supporters and new listeners alike.
