Flint Youth Symphony Tickets

The Flint Youth Symphony Orchestra (FYSO) is a cornerstone of the Flint Institute of Music’s Flint School of Performing Arts. Founded in 1946, FYSO held its first concert on June 2, 1946, and has grown into one of the region’s oldest and most respected youth orchestras. Leading this 80th-season era are conductor Norm Wika, who assumed the role after a long tenure by Davin Pierson Torre, and a dedicated cohort of young musicians showcasing both classic symphonic repertoire and engaging pops-inspired arrangements.

Based in Flint, Michigan, the FYSO serves players from across the region, providing rigorous musical training, performance opportunities, and cross-cultural exchanges through international partnerships with sister orchestras in France and Germany.

The ensemble has cultivated international partnerships since 1990, exchanging with the Limonest Youth Orchestra (France) and the Ahrensburg Youth Orchestra (Germany), with recent tours and regional collaborations including Bamberg Youth Orchestra participation at festivals.
