The Florida Tuskers were a short-lived but memorable American football team in the United Football League (UFL). Based in Orlando, Florida, the Tuskers played home games at the Citrus Bowl in 2009 and the Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, then returned to the Citrus Bowl in 2010. Coached in 2009 by Jim Haslett and in 2010 by Jay Gruden, the team captured early-season momentum, finishing 6-0 in 2009 and reaching the Championship Game, where they fell to the Las Vegas Locomotives. In 2010, they finished 5-3 and again reached the Championship, but were defeated by the Locomotives. The franchise moved to Virginia in 2011 to become the Destroyers as part of the UFL’s evolution, and the league ultimately ceased operations in 2012. While the Florida Tuskers no longer play, their brief chapter remains a notable part of early 2010s pro football history.
