People behind the production
Forbidden Broadway is the iconic, ever-evolving spoof of Broadway that started in 1982 when creator Gerard Alessandrini brought sharp, witty parodies to Palsson's Supper Club in New York City. Since its debut, the series has grown into a long-running phenomenon, producing more than 25 editions and 13 cast albums (primarily through DRG Records). The show is known for its rapid-fire musical numbers that lampoon current Broadway hits and stars, delivering insider humor that theater fans recognize and love. Over the years, Forbidden Broadway has earned multiple honors, including the Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre (2006) and several Drama Desk Awards, underscoring its impact on American stage culture. The 2025–2026 touring edition, Merrily We Stole A Song, brings the signature wit to audiences across the U.S., with stops in cities like Boston, Phoenix, Houston, Detroit, Dallas, Costa Mesa, Denver, and Dayton.
