Friedrich Kircheis (July 4, 1940 – October 28, 2024) was a distinguished German organist, Kantor, and collaborative musician renowned for his contributions to early music and sacred repertoire. Based in Dresden, he served as Kantor and Organist at the Diakonissenhauskirche in Dresden from 1971 through 2005, shaping a generation of church musicians with his precise technique and thoughtful interpretations. A recipient of a prestigious prize at the IV International Johann-Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig in 1972, Kircheis forged enduring partnerships with leading ensembles and performers in Germany’s classical scene.
