Friko is a Chicago-based indie rock duo that blends post-punk energy with chamber-pop textures, drawing influence from Mitski, The Beach Boys, and 2000s indie rock. Formed in 2019 with Niko Kapetan, Bailey Minzenberger, and Luke Stamos, Friko became a duo in 2023 after signing with ATO Records. Their breakthrough comes with the studio album Where We've Been, Where We Go from Here (2024), featuring the lead single Crashing Through and subsequent tracks For Ella and Where We've Been. The Deluxe Edition arrived November 22, 2024, expanding the album with additional tracks. The band earned early recognition with KCRW Today's Top Tune for Get Numb To It! and acclaim from Pitchfork, Stereogum, and the Chicago Sun-Times. Friko made a notable festival debut at Bonnaroo in 2023. In 2025, Friko announced a dense North American tour with a European leg, performing across major theaters and festivals.
