Gaspar - A Pirate Fantasy is a full-length ballet that marries classical technique with theatrical pirate imagery. Premiered in 1994 by Bay Ballet Theatre in Tampa at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center (now the Straz Center), this production has become a notable part of the region’s performing arts landscape. The 2011 revival, staged as part of the Gasparilla festival at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, featured Jose Gaspar portrayed by Alex Crozier-Jackson and helped raise funds for local charities. Choreography by Christopher Fleming and a synthesized orchestral score by Dr. David Goldstein give the work its distinctive swashbuckling atmosphere. While Gaspar - A Pirate Fantasy does not maintain official social channels, related material is documented in BalletFleming resources and regional press coverage, offering fans a vivid glimpse into its pirate theatrics and musical storytelling.
