GBH emerged in 1978 in Birmingham, originally known as Charged GBH. The core lineup has long featured Colin Abrahall on vocals and Colin Blyth on guitar, driving a sound that fused street punk, punk rock, and hardcore influences. GBH is widely credited with contributing to the UK82 scene’s energy and ethos, pushing fast, aggressive riffs paired with socially aware lyrics. Their early singles and their 1982 debut album, City Baby Attacked by Rats, helped establish a global punk voice, peaking at No. 17 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 2 on the UK Indie Chart. In 1984, the band shortened their name to GBH, continuing to release influential records through the 80s, 90s, and beyond. The 2010 release Perfume and Piss (Hellcat Records) and the 2017 Momentum studio album kept the band at the forefront of punk vitality, with industry peers recognizing their impact (Metallica’s James Hetfield has cited GBH as an influence).
GBH continues to tour extensively. The 2025 US tour spans October–November with dates across major cities.
