Gediminas Gelgotas (born 1986, Vilnius) is a Lithuanian-born composer known for blending minimalism with contemporary classical and multimedia stage elements. He founded the New Ideas Chamber Orchestra (NICO Ensemble), shaping a distinctive sound that resonates with younger audiences while maintaining international appeal. Gelgotas has collaborated with renowned venues and festivals, including Berlin Konzerthaus, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Zurich Tonhalle, and the Verbier Festival where he served as composer-in-residence in 2014. His 2024 album Consonance, released by Warner Classics, showcases a fusion of Lithuanian, Polish, and Ukrainian influences created with NICO Ensemble and pianist Janusz Wawrowski. In 2025, Gelgotas continues to tour Lithuania and beyond, bringing his immersive, multimedia performances to audiences in Vilnius and Klaipėda as part of Recompositions and Lithuania’s energy-themed celebrations.
