Gemma New is a dynamic conductor and creative force in classical music. Born in New Zealand in 1986, she trained at the University of Canterbury and the Peabody Institute, founded the Lunar Ensemble, and has earned recognition as a bold, insightful conductor with a global outlook. She currently serves as Artistic Advisor & Principal Conductor of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (NZSO), Music Director of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Her work blends rigorous technique with an adventurous musical imagination, bringing fresh perspectives to orchestral repertoire.
