George Hinchcliffe's Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (UOGB) has been a benchmark of witty, fearless ukulele performances since 1985. Founded by George Hinchcliffe (also spelled Hinchliffe) and Kitty Lux, this independent, self-managed ensemble is known for faithful yet tongue-in-cheek arrangements that traverse from classical to punk. With a core group of dedicated ukulele players, the band combines tight musicianship with humorous stage banter, delivering a show that feels both sophisticated and approachable. The UOGB's most famous moment came at the Proms in 2009, where their late-night slot became the fastest-selling performance in that series’ history. Celebrating a 40th anniversary in 2025, the ensemble continues to tour worldwide, delighting audiences with genre-spanning covers and charismatic live delivery. Below you’ll find a biography, highlights from their discography, and upcoming tour information to help you secure your seats through Gold Coast Tickets.
