Gerardo Edelstein is an Argentine-born conductor and educator with extensive international guest conducting experience. As a respected figure in the classical music world, he combines a rich performing career with a strong commitment to education and community engagement. Edelstein serves as a professor of orchestral studies at Pennsylvania State University, directing the Penn State Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras, and he is the artistic director of the Penn’s Woods Music Festival. He holds the role of Music Director with the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra (WSO) and the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra (PCO), enriching the orchestral landscape across Pennsylvania and beyond.

With a track record that includes guest conducting appearances with Israel Sinfonietta, Mendi Rodan Symphony Orchestra, and the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, Edelstein has led ensembles across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. His programming and artistic leadership have earned recognition, including ASCAP first prizes for innovative music programming in 2000 and 2001.

Across his career, Edelstein has guided Penn State ensembles on international tours and performances at major venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Kimmel Center. He continues to curate central Pennsylvania concert programming through collaborations with PCO, WSO, and Penn State, bringing high-caliber classical music to diverse audiences.
