Glenn Monroig is a renowned Puerto Rican performer and songwriter whose career began in the mid-1970s and spanned decades of influence across Latin pop, bolero, and experimental rap. Born on April 22, 1957, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he is the son of bolero legend Gilberto Monroig. Glenn’s early breakthrough came at age 14, with his first notable hit around 1980 and a pivotal moment representing Puerto Rico at the OTI Festival in 1981. Over the years, he helped shape Spanish-language rap with No Finjas (1983) and delivered enduring hits like Por Siempre (Forever) in 1986. His work as a creator and producer extended through the 1990s with influential albums and the formation of Mamoku and later Sitting Duck / Mezza Lunna. In 2003–present, he continued to perform live, release new material, and revisit classic songs in tributes. In 2025, Glenn remains active with performances and tributes that celebrate his musical legacy.
