Biography overview
Gorillaz Sound System was born as a DJ‑led, multimedia experience around 2007–2008, marking a unique collaboration within the Gorillaz universe. Led by Remi Kabaka Jr., GSS became known for immersive, club‑ready sets that combined electronic production with live visuals. The project gained notable festival visibility, including a 2008 Creamfields appearance billed specifically as Gorillaz Sound System and a 2017 Demon Dayz event in Margate where GSS featured on the lineup. While GSS releases have largely been online mixes and remixes (such as Fool's Day Mix, KONG 11, and Pixel‑Ache Mix on SoundCloud), these tracks capture the energy and forward‑thinking approach that defines the act. Kabaka’s involvement with Gorillaz as a live member and producer continued into the mid‑2010s, but GSS stopped touring regularly after 2015. Today, Gorillaz Sound System remains a cherished piece of the Gorillaz tapestry, with official updates still coming from Gorillaz’ main social channels and platforms.
