People behind the production
Greater Clements is a compelling theatrical piece that premiered Off-Broadway at Lincoln Center Theater’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. Written by Samuel D. Hunter and directed by Davis McCallum, the production examines aging, community displacement, and belonging through the story of Maggie, a 65-year-old Mine Tour and Museum owner in the fictional town of Greater Clements, Idaho. The cast featured Judith Ivey and Edmund Donovan, with a technical team including scenic designer Dane Laffrey, costume designer Kaye Voyce, lighting by Yi Zhao, and original music and sound by Fitz Patton. Although the production closed in January 2020, it remains a significant entry in contemporary American theater and a relevant study in town identity and memory.
