Grosse Pointe South High School Band And Orchestra Tickets

The Grosse Pointe South High School Band and Orchestra program is a cornerstone of the district’s musical excellence. Led by Director James Gross for 23 years in the district and 19 years directing GPSHS orchestras, the ensembles cultivate strong performance skills, artistry, and teamwork through a comprehensive curriculum. Students participate in a range of ensembles—from Wind Ensemble and Concert Band to Symphony Orchestra and Jazz Band—each with audition requirements designed to place musicians at the right level. The program consistently earns Division I ratings at MSBOA District XVI for Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Band, and the Symphony Orchestra has maintained a decade-long Division I streak at district and state levels. Community members can anticipate in-school performances and MSBOA events throughout the calendar year, with standout events like Pops & Pastries and Sounds of the Season coming to GPS venues.
