Gulfer formed in 2011 in Montreal, blending emo-punk, math rock, grunge, and shoegaze into a distinctive sound that’s both intricate and emotive. The project started with long-time members Vincent Ford (vocals/guitar) and David Mitchell (bass/vocals), with later lineup additions including Joe Therriault (guitar/vocals) and Julien Daoust (drums). Over the years, Gulfer cultivated a reputation for nimble guitar work, complex time signatures, and lyrics that cut straight to the heart. As a staple of the Canadian indie scene, Gulfer’s music has earned coverage from Pitchfork and other major outlets, while maintaining a dedicated fanbase built through relentless touring and intimate live performances.
