The Hamburg Ballet is one of Germany’s most venerable and influential ballet companies, rooted in a rich artistic lineage that stretches back to 1973. Founded by John Neumeier, the company has become synonymous with expressive storytelling, lavish productions, and a commitment to both classic and contemporary ballet. The School of the Hamburg Ballet, established in 1978, has trained generations of dancers, feeding the company’s vibrant repertoire. Across its history, the company has been housed at the Hamburg Ballet Centre for rehearsals and education since 1989, while the primary stage remains Hamburg’s Staatsoper (Hamburg State Opera).
