Haydn's Creation is one of the crown jewels of classical choral-orchestral writing. Composed by Joseph Haydn (1732–1809) and completed in 1798, this monumental oratorio blends dramatic storytelling with lush orchestration, drawing on Genesis and Milton with text arranged by Gottfried van Swieten. Since its private premiere at the Schwarzenberg Palace in Vienna in 1798, The Creation has delighted audiences worldwide and remains a staple of concert halls and opera houses alike.
