Heddatron is a bold theatrical work by Elizabeth Meriwether that blends live robotics with classic literary drama. Since its premiere in February 2006 at HERE Arts Center in New York City, the play has traveled through regional stages, inviting audiences to watch a pregnant Michigan housewife abducted by robots and forced to perform Hedda Gabler while Ibsen and Strindberg observe. Licensed and produced by Playscripts, Inc., Heddatron continues to appear in contemporary theatre programs and college repertory, offering a unique mix of satire, suspense, and meta-theatrical spectacle.
