Herman Dune is the nom de plume of David Ivar Hyttier, a central figure in the Parisian anti-folk scene who has built a durable, intimate catalog spanning two decades. Emerging from a vibrant Paris network, Herman Dune gained wider recognition after recording with the late-2000s and 2010s bands and collaborating with a dedicated circle of musicians. Early BBC exposure came when John Peel invited Herman Dune to perform Peel Sessions, a hallmark of the artist’s enduring appeal. Today, the project continues to release music through Santa Cruz Records and BB*Island / Cargo, with a focus on storytelling, minimal arrangements, and melodic clarity that invites listeners to lean in and hear the songwriter’s voice.
