Hinterm Horizont is a German musical project that reimagines Udo Lindenberg’s iconic songs through a script by Thomas Brussig. The production blends theatre, rock and pop sensibilities to tell a distinctive story built from Lindenberg’s catalog, with a narrative afoot that resonates across generations. Since its Berlin premiere in 2011, the show has captivated audiences with its energetic performances and poignant storytelling, becoming a landmark in contemporary German musical theatre.

Originating at Theater am Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, the production ran from January 13, 2011, through August 28, 2016, before relocating to Hamburg (Nov 2016–Oct 2017). The Berlin era alone saw more than 2 million viewers across roughly 1,800 performances, underscoring the show’s broad appeal and cultural impact. In addition to the stage productions, Hinterm Horizont expands its reach through the Schulprojekt, bringing performances into schools since 2015 (expanded in 2019), helping new audiences engage with Lindenberg’s music in an educational context.

In 2025, Hinterm Horizont continues to tour, including performances in Bremen at the Metropol Theater on February 12 (19:30) and February 13 (14:00 and 19:30), showcasing the enduring relevance of this musical collaboration. The original Berlin cast recording, Hinterm Horizont – Das Musical, Original Berlin Cast, released by Warner in 2011, remains a touchstone for fans and new listeners alike.
