Biographical notes: André Ristic (music) and Cecil Castellucci (libretto) collaborated to create Hockey Noir The Opera, a work that blends contemporary composition with a cinematic sensibility. The production is marked by bilingual storytelling, innovative projections, and a chamber-sized ensemble, offering an intimate yet expansive listening experience. Early key productions took place in Montreal at the Monument-National (May 3–4, 2018) and in Toronto at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts (May 10–11, 2018). The project also reached Belgium (Ars Musica, Mons and Schaerbeek; 2018/2019), demonstrating its cross-border appeal. The touring footprint in 2018 included nationwide Canadian exposure, with Belgium engagements following shortly after.
