Honeymoon Suite emerged from Niagara Falls, Ontario in 1981, founded by guitarists/vocalists Johnnie Dee and Derry Grehan. The lineup solidified through the decade as they built a reputation for hook-laden hard rock and melodic AOR that resonated with rock fans across Canada. Their self-titled debut helped establish their signature sound, followed by a string of successful records that achieved multi-platinum status in Canada and international recognition. Their triumphs include the 1986 Juno Award for Group of the Year, signaling their prominence in the Canadian rock landscape.
The band’s music combines tight guitar riffs, soaring choruses, and a polished, radio-friendly sensibility. They became a staple of 80s rock radio and MTV-friendly videos, contributing to the era’s enduring legacy in Canadian music. Over the years, Honeymoon Suite has continued to evolve, while preserving the essence of their early hit-making approach.
