Houston Contemporary Dance Company (HC/DC) is a nonprofit contemporary dance organization based in Houston, TX. Founding Artistic & Executive Director Marlana Doyle leads HC/DC with a mission to create meaningful work, foster community through movement, and provide robust educational outreach. Located at 1302 Houston Ave, Suite #300, Houston, TX 77007, HC/DC operates a strong educational ecosystem that includes HC2, a Houston-based youth training program housed within the Institute of Contemporary Dance’s operations.

HC/DC collaborates with choreographers and guest artists, presenting world premieres and innovative programs that engage audiences across Houston and beyond. The company builds residency opportunities, in-school previews, workshops, and choreographic residencies, focusing on accessibility and artistic rigor. The contemporary repertoire often features collaborative works and ensemble-based pieces designed to inspire both audiences and aspiring dancers.

Upcoming HC/DC engagements include performances at venues such as the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts and the Institute of Contemporary Dance. The 2025 season featured the Resolve program at the Hobby Center on April 12, 2025, and the Localish program at the Institute of Contemporary Dance on February 21–22, 2025. The Resolute 2025 program showcased world premieres by Natasha Adorlee and Taryn Vander Hoop, with guest artists from Summation Dance, including an expanded piece Forget Me Not from 2024. In addition to performances, HC/DC emphasizes educational outreach through in-school previews, workshops, and choreographic residencies that support local students and emerging artists. Looking ahead to 2026, HC/DC anticipates multiple in-house and guest residencies with artists such as Mia Angelini, Robbie Moore, Lenorris Arnold, and continued Localish programming at the Institute of Contemporary Dance.
