Houston Youth Chamber Orchestra Tickets

The Houston Youth Chamber Orchestra (HYCO) serves young musicians across the Houston area, ages 5–19, entering its 9th season (2026–2027). We provide a structured, mentor-led path for orchestral development through three orchestras: Philharmonic, Symphonia, and Concert Orchestra. Co-founded and conducted by Kurt Johnson of the Houston Symphony, with Colleen Matheu Johnson serving as Executive Director, HYCO blends rigorous training with community engagement to help young artists grow on and off the stage.

HYCO is committed to accessibility, offering programs such as the HYCO Summer Institute and a Chamber Music Program, plus rich outreach opportunities. We’ve performed across diverse Houston venues—from NASA Johnson Space Center to The Rienzi and Bayou Bend—sharing music with families at schools, libraries, museums, and public events. Under the leadership of Artistic Advisor Augustina Kapoti, Artistic Manager Samuel Brady, and incoming Artistic Manager Grace Lewis (2026–27), HYCO continues to expand its reach and impact.
