Hue and Cry are one of Scotland’s enduring melodic voices, formed in Coatbridge in 1983 by Pat Kane and Greg Kane. Fusing blue‑eyed soul with pop and evolving jazz‑pop arrangements, they carved a path that blends lush orchestration with accessible, heartful songwriting. Their breakthrough came with the UK hit Labour of Love in 1987, a track that defined their early sound and set the stage for a long career built on integrity and warm, sophisticated production.
