Huun Huur Tu is a groundbreaking Tuva-based world-folk ensemble renowned for their intricate khoomei throat-singing and skillful playing of traditional instruments such as igil, doshpuluur, and tungur. Formed in 1992 in the republic of Tuva, their sound blends ancient vocal techniques with contemporary arrangements, creating a musical bridge between generations and continents. The current lineup features Kaigal-ool Khovalyg, Sayan Bapa, Radik Tyulyush, and Alexei Saryglar, all of whom carry the legacy of Tuva’s rich vocal and instrumental traditions while pushing the music forward. The group has earned international recognition, including a BBC Radio 3 World Music Awards nomination in 2004, underscoring their influence in global folk music.
