HV Gamer Con began as Hudson Valley Gamer Con (HVGCon) in 2019, debuting at the Albany Capital Center as the Northeast’s largest collegiate esports event. The project brought together universities and gaming communities for tournaments, expo experiences, and panel discussions, highlighting titles like Fortnite, League of Legends, and Overwatch. Early collaborations included ECAC, MAAC, Albany Capital Center, Center for Economic Growth, and RPI, with N3rd Street Gamers handling broadcast services for the 2019 events. Attendance reached the low thousands, drawing around 2,500 fans to a multi-school, regional celebration of competitive gaming. In response to the pandemic, HVGCon explored virtual formats and later in-person planning, though there is no verified public record of a 2025 HVGCon edition. HV Gamer Con has evolved into a performer who channels gaming culture into engaging live experiences, merging high-energy performance with a nod to gaming history.
