Founded in 1989 by Sabra Logan, often called Mama Sabra, Iibada Dance Company has long stood as a cornerstone of cultural enrichment, discipline, and youth empowerment through dance in Indianapolis. Translating to Worship in Swahili, Iibada embodies a commitment to artistic excellence, community engagement, and the transformative power of movement. The organization includes an Academy for ages 3-18, a Performance Company, and community programs like Dare to Dance and Keep Your Campers Moving, all designed to nurture technique, creativity, and character.

Iibada’s dancers have gone on to join major companies and Broadway productions, showcasing the company’s role as a springboard for professional careers. The ensemble regularly collaborates with notable venues across the city, including the Indianapolis Artsgarden, The Children’s Museum, and Indiana Black Expo events, bringing dynamic performances to diverse audiences.

Public appearances in 2025 highlight Iibada’s ongoing dedication to sharing cultural artistry with the community. In October, the company is set to perform Motion Pictures at Gallery 924 (October 4–5, 2025), offering a contemporary look at movement and storytelling. December brings the Harambee! Kwanzaa Community Festival at the Indiana State Museum on December 28, 2025, a festive celebration of heritage and unity in Indianapolis.
