Illinois State Dance Theatre (ISDT) is the pre-professional dance company of Illinois State University, offering students performance opportunities while collaborating with nationally recognized faculty and guest artists. ISDT regularly presents ambitious works across ISU’s Westhoff Theatre and Center for the Performing Arts Theatre, weaving together training, artistry, and live performance for a growing audience in Normal, Illinois, and beyond.

ISDT maintains a strong statewide and national presence through touring productions and collaborations with the Dance Association and the Dance Inventions Student Choreographed Concert. The company choreographs and performs a diverse range of contemporary and classical works, reflecting the creativity of ISU’s dance community.
The essentials
Upcoming ISDT performances in 2025 highlight a robust on-campus slate and touring possibilities. The Spring 2025 season features Intermix at Westhoff Theatre (Apr 24–26 at 7:30 pm; Apr 26–27 at 2 pm) with works by Laina Reese Werner-Powell, Darby Wilde, Gregory Merriman, Jacob Henss, and Paula Sousa. Other on-campus productions include Escobar’s Hippo (Feb 14–15; Feb 19–22 at 7:30 pm; Feb 16 at 2 pm), The Prom (Feb 28 at Center for the Performing Arts Theatre; Mar 1 and 4–6 at 7:30 pm; Mar 1–2 at 2 pm), Borrowed Babies (Mar 28–29; Apr 2–5 at 7:30 pm; Mar 30 at 2 pm), and Everybody (Apr 11–12 and 16–19 at 7:30 pm; Apr 13 at 2 pm). Each date stands alone, with additional performances announced through ISU’s Fine Arts box office.
