The Illinois State Redbirds Hockey program is a cornerstone of ISU’s student-driven athletic culture. Founded in 1969, it stands as the oldest student-run organization on campus and fields D1, D2, and D3 teams within the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). Home ice is shared at Grossinger Motors Arena and the Bloomington Ice Center in Bloomington-Normal, IL. In the 2024-25 season, the Redbird program joined Midwest College Hockey (MCH), bringing an anticipated ~20-game conference schedule and an autobid to the ACHA National Championships. The club made its first ACHA National Championship appearance at the D1 level in 2022-23, showcasing the program’s growth and competitive spirit. The 2025-26 roster introduced several incoming players, and ISU Club Hockey continues to honor its history with annual Hall of Fame inductions, including ceremonies on Oct 25, 2025. Social media updates and schedules are actively shared by the ISU hockey community, with the official ISUHockey channel as a hub for news, scores, and highlights.
